She made him forget why he was running.

Conor Hudson knows he doesn’t deserve to be happy ever again. It’s why he left his home and his family and moved overseas to a remote Swiss town. His job as a snow groomer at a ski resort might not be glamorous but at least he can be alone.

Siena Blake lost five million pounds and her long-time boyfriend on the same day. To add insult to injury, the whole thing ended making the London news. To escape, she takes a job in the Swiss ski resort of Le Miroir, where all she expects to do is work, ski, and eat lots of cheese and chocolate.

When Conor and Siena first meet, he’s determined to stay away. But when she’s caught in an avalanche, all of Conor’s protective instincts awaken and he realizes he’ll do anything to keep her safe.

It soon becomes apparent that all is not as it seems in Le Miroir. Could the peaceful ski resort prove a deadly trap for them both? Even if they can survive the dangers lurking, who will protect their hearts?

Penelope's Review

This is a nice, quick read with a decent storyline. While it was definitely enjoyable and made for a cozy afternoon, I found that there was very little buildup of the plot. I get that it is meant to be a short novella, but some aspects of the story felt rushed and a bit out of place. Character-wise, I think this book was spot on. I loved how strong and stoic Conor was, and how sweet and independent Siena was. I liked watching the two interact, and fall in love. I like the supporting character Luc as well! He seemed like such a sweetheart! I could definitely read a whole book based on him!

I think this could have been really fantastic if there was just a bit more explanation given for the various events scattered throughout. But overall, it was a great read for a cold afternoon or evening in. Can definitely be done in one sitting and the characters are fun to follow!
