It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organize yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn here at The Book Date.

Hi everyone! Happy Monday! I am currently writing this blog post from a chalet at the bottom of a ski hill! I absolutely love snowboarding, are any of you skiiers or snowboarders? We're getting to the end of the season here in Ontario which is sad, but it means summer is coming so that's always nice! I completed my second interview for a medical school in England and I will hear their final decision on my acceptance on March 24th!! Please pray and cross your fingers for me lol! But I was also surprised and very happy to receive an interview for another medical school in Ireland as well! Yay! So I now have a second shot if England doesn't work out :)
Anyway! In terms of books, I slowed down a bit this month due to interview prep but hopefully I can pick back up again now! Have a lovely week everyone!

This Week's Question:

Do you have a bookish pet peeve? If so, what is it? (submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)

Oof yes I do lol! I hate it when price stickers are put on books that are hard to get off - it bugs me to no end when it leaves some behind or that sticky residue. Also, when people bend paperbacks and break the spine! Ahhh!! It's like watching a murder lol! And finally, when people borrow my books and don't return them in the PRISTINE condition that I lent them haha! Thankfully, this is not something that occurs often (mainly because I rarely lend my books out lol).

Can't Wait Wednesday #28

Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings to spotlight and discuss the books we're excited about that we have yet to read. Generally, they're books that have yet to be released.

Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday! I hope everyone's week has been good so far. I kinda just wish it was the weekend again lol! Anyway, this week I am spotlighting an upcoming book, Belle Morte by Bella Higgin. It's a new vampire book coming out in April! I absolutely adore vampires so I'm hoping that this books lives up to my expectations! We shall see!

Author: Bella Higgin
Publish Date: April 5th, 2022
Publisher: Wattpad Books

There’s only one way out.

Belle Morte. One of five houses where vampires reside as celebrities and humans are paid to be their living donors. While others came here seeking fortune, I came in search of my sister who walked into Belle Morte five months ago . . . and never walked back out.

Now that I’m here, the secrets about this world have proven to be much bigger than I ever anticipated. And lurking around every corner are shocking insinuations of what happened to my sister. .

There’s only one person who might have the answers I need, and the undeniable pull I feel toward him is terrifying: Edmond Dantès―a vampire, and my mortal enemy.

The harder I try to resist him, the further I fall under his spell. And in one instant my life is irrevocably changed. My past becomes prologue and my fate becomes sealed behind these doors. Belle Morte has spoken.

And it may never let me go.

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend! My weekend consisted of taking down the Christmas tree and putting away all of the decorations and then grocery shopping and meal prepping! And of course, reading! Today is the first day of a new fitness challenge that I joined - it's time to get rid of the weight I gained over the holidays lol!
Anyway, here is what I've been up to with my books lately:

Hi everyone! My goodness it's been awhile since I've hopped on this meme lol! I've been focusing on putting out reviews, and doing alot of blog tours so all my fun bookish weekly memes have sort of fallen off the wagon! But alas, better late then never! So we recently had the Black Friday sales, which means I of course picked up some books! There was a great sale on boxsets so that's what I stocked up on!

This Week's Question:

Have you ever read a book on Halloween? If so, what was the title? (submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)

Oh probably! I read something almost every day so I'm certain that Halloween is no different! As for specific titles, I've got no idea lol! I don't read anything particular on Halloween, just whatever book I'm in the middle of at the time!

This Week's Question:

What book series make you crave chocolate? (submitted by Julie @ JadeSky)

Interesting question lol! I'm having a hard time thinking of anything off the top of my head... though I will say that I recently read two books by Jennifer Bardsley - Sweet Bliss and Good Catch - and they mention the Nuthatch Bakery multiple times; I have to say that I was craving baked goods in a bad way while reading these lol!!

Can't Wait Wednesday #26

Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings to spotlight and discuss the books we're excited about that we have yet to read. Generally, they're books that have yet to be released.

Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday! I'm hopping on this meme for the first time in awhile - I'm hoping to be more consistent for the rest of the year :) This week I thought I'd spotlight a regency romance! I was just approved for this one on NetGalley so if you like the sound of it, go request it!

Title: Girls Before Earls
Author: Anna Bennett
Publish Date: December 28th, 2021
Publisher: St. Martin's Paperbacks

WHAT A GIRL WANTS

To survive her difficult childhood, Miss Hazel Lively relied on two things:a tough outer shell and a love of books. Now, at the age of twenty-eight, she’s finally realized her life-long dream of opening a school for girls. She’s hoping that the wealthy families who flock to the shore for the summer will entrust their daughters to Bellehaven Academy―and help pay the way for less fortunate students. All Hazel must do is maintain a flawless reputation and raise a good deal of money. It’s a foolproof plan…till a sinfully handsome earl strides into her office.

WHAT AN EARL NEEDS

Gabriel Beckett, Earl of Bladenton, has had a monstrous headache since the day his teenaged niece became his ward. She’s been expelled from two London boarding schools and is doing her damnedest to scare off his potential fiancée. But Blade has a plan of his own―enroll his niece at Bellehaven Academy, where she’ll be out of town and out of his hair. He just needs to convince the buttoned-up headmistress with the soulful brown eyes to take on his niece.

LEAD TO AN IRRESISTIBLE DEAL

When Blade makes a generous offer to the school, it’s impossible for Hazel to refuse. But she has one non-negotiable condition: the earl must visit his niece every other week. Soon, Blade discovers there’s much more to Hazel than meticulous lesson plans. In moonlit seaside coves and candlelit ballrooms, their sparring leads to flirtation…and something altogether deeper. But the passion that flares between them poses a threat to Hazel’s school and Blade’s battered heart. They say a good thing can’t last forever, but true love? Well, it just might…

What do you use for a bookmark? A real one or something else? (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver's Reviews)

I usually use an actual bookmark but if I've lost mine or forgotten it, I will pick up anything available! A piece of paper, a sock lol. Anything can be a bookmark!

Can't Wait Wednesday #1

Can't-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted here, at Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we're excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they're books that have yet to be released. It's based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by the fabulous Jill at Breaking the Spine. If you're continuing with WOW, feel free to link those up as well! Find out more here.

This is the first time that I will be participating the weekly book blog meme, Can't-Wait Wednesday! I think this is an awesome meme for me because it's going to allow me to really delve deep into upcoming releases! More for my TBR pile! YAY!

Lol, so without further ado, one of the books that I am MOST excited about is:

Author: Katy McGarry
Publication Date: January 30th, 2018
Publisher: Harlequin Teen

Summary by Goodreads.

When Drix was convicted of a crime--one he didn't commit--he thought his life was over. But opportunity came with the new Second Chance Program, the governor's newest pet project to get delinquents off the streets, rehabilitated and back into society.

Drix knows this is his chance to get his life back on track, even if it means being paraded in front of reporters for a while.
Elle knows she lives a life of privilege. As the governor's daughter, she can open doors with her name alone. But the expectations and pressure to be someone she isn't may be too much to handle. She wants to follow her own path, whatever that means.

When Drix and Elle meet, their connection is immediate, but so are their problems. Drix is not the type of boy Elle's parents have in mind for her, and Elle is not the kind of girl who can understand Drix's messy life.

Fighting against a society that can't imagine them together, Drix and Elle must push themselves--Drix to confront the truth of the robbery, and Elle to assert her independence--and each other to finally get what they deserve.
