A spellbinding story of three princesses and the destiny they were born for: seduction, conquest, and the crown. Immerse yourself in the first book in a new fantasy trilogy from the author of the New York Times bestselling Ash Princess series.

Empress Margaraux has had plans for her daughters since the day they were born. Princesses Sophronia, Daphne, and Beatriz will be queens. And now, age sixteen, they each must leave their homeland and marry their princes.

Beautiful, smart, and demure, the triplets appear to be the perfect brides—because Margaraux knows there is one common truth: everyone underestimates a girl. Which is a grave mistake. Sophronia, Daphne, and Beatriz are no innocents. They have been trained since birth in the arts of deception, seduction, and violence with a singular goal—to bring down monarchies— and their marriages are merely the first stage of their mother’s grand vision: to one day reign over the entire continent of Vesteria.

The princesses have spent their lives preparing, and now they are ready, each with her own secret skill, and each with a single wish, pulled from the stars. Only, the stars have their own plans—and their mother hasn’t told them all of hers.

Life abroad is a test. Will their loyalties stay true? Or will they learn that they can’t trust anyone—not even each other?

"Anextravagantly built series starter" --Publishers Weekly

Penelope's Review

This has been one of my favourite books so far, and will likely remain in my top books of 2022. I have yet to read the Ash Princess trilogy, but I'm super excited to give it a try as I really like this author's writing style. I don't normally like books with alot of important characters because I find it difficult to keep track of, and I read for fun not to be laser focused lol! But in this case, it just WORKED. I loved all of the characters!

I really liked how each sister had a romance arc but it wasn't overpowering - romance didn't become the main point of the plot, though it did play a large role in one or two of the sister's story arcs. It was very tastefully done.

In terms of the sisters themselves - loved all three of them. I actually don't have a favourite, they all brought something unique and interesting to the book. I also realyl liked how I was always able to tell them apart. Sometimes in books with more than 1 or 2 point of views, the voices can sort of blend together. That didn't happen here, I always knew exactly who I was reading about. In terms of the love interests, Pasquale was such a sweetheart. Definitely one of my favourites but I have a feeling that in the next book, Baire is going to be my first pick... we shall see!

The plotline itself was fantastic. The ending took me completely by surprise, which I absolutely love! It's always great when a book can throw you off balance like that. I'm hoping to hear more from Empress Margareaux in the next book - I think she could turn into a really formidable character and I'm interested to see where the author takes her. A couple of the chapters ran a bit slow, but other than that I loved this book.

Overall, I found this to be a well-written and interesting. I'm very excited to see what happens next!

Rating: 4.5/5 Devils!
