Hi everyone! Gosh, it's been a minute. The topic of books came up with a friend recently, and it brought up some nostalgia when I realized that I hadn't posted on my blog in ages. I decided it was time to dust off the keyboard and sit myself down with a cuppa to update those out there in the abyss that still read book blogs.
Sadly, I've not had much time to read over the last couple of years (at least, nowhere near the volume of books that I'm accustomed to) because I've been in medical school in Ireland! It still sounds so crazy to me. Even typing that I'm in medical school makes me catch my breath sometimes. I mean, I know you don't know me, but if you did... well let's just say you wouldn't exactly picture me as the doctor type. It's been a long, severely bumpy road but I made it. Stronger than ever. Sometimes I just sit back and look around, in absolute awe that I've made it as far as I have in this lifetime. Anyway.
I'm now in my third year of medical school, out of four years. More than halfway through, can you believe that? Ireland is absolutely incredible. I love the country, the people, the culture. It's an absolute pleasure despite the lack of sun. I mean, really, would it kill Mother Nature to shine some light in this little patch of the world?
In terms of books, well, as you can imagine there's not much time for fiction these days. It's mostly textbooks, research papers, and lecture slides. I do manage to pack a few in on holidays, but it's just not the same as it used to be. That being said, I really do miss posting my thoughts about all of the fantastic novels out there. I think I may begin posting here and there, when a book leaves me with something I'd like to say. It will be sporadic, but it will be something. And maybe one day, in the next year or so, I can come back to blogging more regularly. I would hate to give this up. I love it so much.
I will add though, that I haven't completely given up writing. I've actually been picking away at my own novel. Well, a series actually. I have a 4-part book series planned, based in part on my own experience throughout medical school It's of course fictionalized but it draws a lot on my own life and everything I've been going through out here. I'm very excited about it. I usually have so many writing ideas that I bounce around from book to book to book without ever finishing anything. This time though, I've stuck with it. I'm at about 30,000 words so far and counting. I can't wait to share it with the world.
Until next time, little devils!
